Who we are
The beginning
The story begins in a family setting, on an ordinary afternoon when León, the family dog, disappeared like so many other times, but this time without returning. What seemed like a temporary absence turned into a search of days and then months. During that time, a couple found him and, with the intention of helping, took him to have his animal identification microchip checked. However, the system returned no useful information, and the bond between León and his family could not be rebuilt.
The problem
From then on, both sides tried to find solutions separately: sharing on social media, contacting animal shelters, local searches and informal channels. But since there was no coordination system for lost pets, the message did not reach the right people at the right time. The information was fragmented and the search dissolved into multiple directions with no real connection. Eight months later, a chain of coincidences finally allowed the pet to be reunited with its family.
The idea
That moment brought not only relief but also a key question: how was it possible that, with tools like the identification chip, social media, animal protection centers and thousands of people willing to help, something as basic as reuniting a pet with its home could fail for so long. The answer lay in the lack of structure: there was no centralized pet-recovery network bringing together all the players in the same coordination environment.
Helppet
From that experience Helppet was born. First as a simple idea inspired by a lost-and-found system, and later as a project built from real cases. Today Helppet is evolving into a platform for lost pets, designed to connect citizens, animal-sector professionals, institutions and local communities within the same system. Its goal is clear: to transform the way the search for and recovery of lost pets is managed, making the process faster, more coordinated and more efficient.

Our mission is to help more lost pets return home and to offer a more effective response when a family faces their disappearance. We develop solutions that make it easier to recover stray animals, reduce uncertainty during the search and improve the way these processes are managed.
